Every extension install at Lee Graves Salon starts with a complimentary consultation. It takes about 30 minutes, it costs nothing, and you leave with a method recommendation, a color match and a written quote. There is no obligation to book anything at the end of it.

Why the Consultation Comes First
Extensions are the most customized service on our menu. The method, the amount of hair, the placement and the color all have to be decided against your actual hair, in person, in good light. None of that can be worked out over the phone or from a photo.
It is also a significant investment, and you should know the full number and the full commitment before you agree to anything. The consultation is where you get both.
What Happens in the 30 Minutes
1. We look at your hair. Length, density, texture, condition and strength. This determines which method is safe for you and how many rows or wefts your hair can comfortably carry. Density is the number that surprises people — it is what decides how much hair we can attach, not how much you would like.
2. We talk about what you actually want. How much length? How much volume? Are you after a subtle boost or a visible transformation? Bring photos of results you like. Photos of results you do not like are just as useful, and people rarely think to bring them.
3. We color match. We match extension hair to your current color against real swatches, in the salon's light rather than a screen. If you wear highlights, balayage or a lived-in blend, your extensions can be custom-colored so the dimension carries through instead of hanging as a flat panel underneath.
4. We explain the commitment honestly. Extensions need a maintenance appointment every 6 to 8 weeks for hand-tied and tape-in, or every 3 to 4 months for keratin bond. You will hear the full schedule and the full ongoing cost, not just the installation figure.
5. You get a written quote. Based on the method, the amount of hair and the placement, covering installation and ongoing maintenance, so there are no surprises later.
Which Method We Might Recommend
You do not need to arrive knowing what you want. Working out the method is our job, and it depends far more on your hair than on your preference:
- Hand-tied (beaded weft) — our most-installed method, and usually the recommendation for fine hair, real length, and anyone who wears their hair up. From $1,500 including hair.
- Tape-in — the fastest and lowest-cost entry point, and a sensible trial if you are not yet sure. From $800 including hair.
- Keratin bond (K-tip) — individual strands for hairlines, parts and face-framing, where a row physically cannot reach.
- A combination — hand-tied rows for the bulk, keratin bonds for the detail. This is one of our specialties and it is what a lot of consultations land on.
The Answer Is Sometimes No
We will tell you if extensions are not right for your hair. Hair shorter than about 5 to 6 inches, hair loss at the scalp level, certain scalp conditions, or hair that is currently too compromised to carry weight all mean we should either wait or do something else first.
Sometimes the honest recommendation is a bonding or conditioning treatment now and extensions in a few months. Sometimes it is a cut and color that gives you most of what you are chasing without the commitment. You will get that answer straight, at no cost, which is rather the point of a free consultation.
