Something Blue by Lee Graves

Something Blue by Lee Graves is the dedicated bridal division of Lee Graves Salon. For over 30 years, our team has been styling brides and bridal parties across Plano, Frisco, Allen, Richardson, McKinney, The Colony, and the greater North Texas area — creating looks that photograph beautifully, last all day and night, and make every bride feel like the best version of herself.

Your hair and makeup need to be flawless in person, on camera, and under every lighting condition — from getting-ready photos in natural light to reception dancing under colored LEDs. That level of performance requires experience, premium products, and a deep understanding of what works on camera versus what works in real life. Our bridal team has all three.

We're located at 6101 Chapel Hill Blvd, Suite 103, Plano, TX 75093, and we offer both in-salon and on-location bridal services throughout the DFW metroplex.

Bridal Services We Offer

Bridal Trial

The bridal trial is the most important appointment in your wedding beauty timeline. It's a dedicated session — typically 2-3 months before your wedding — where you and your stylist collaborate to design and perfect your wedding day hair and makeup.

During the trial, your stylist will:

  • Review your inspiration photos — You'll share images of looks you love (and looks you don't), and your stylist will assess what will work with your hair type, face shape, skin tone, and wedding style
  • Discuss your wedding details — Venue (indoor/outdoor), time of day, season, dress style and neckline, veil or headpiece, wedding colors, and photography style all influence the best approach
  • Create a test look — Your stylist will do a full hair and makeup application so you can see, touch, and photograph the proposed look before your wedding day
  • Refine and adjust — If something doesn't feel right, you'll work together to modify it. The trial is your opportunity to experiment and make changes without the pressure of a timeline
  • Plan for the day — You'll confirm timing, discuss any hair extensions needed, review the day-of timeline, and finalize every detail

The trial should be treated as a dress rehearsal. Wear a top or dress with a similar neckline to your wedding gown, bring your veil and any hair accessories, and plan to take photos afterward — in different lighting, from different angles — so you can see how the look reads on camera.

We strongly recommend scheduling your trial 2-3 months before your wedding. This gives you time to schedule a second trial if needed and allows your stylist to order any extensions or special products in advance.

Day-of Bridal Hair

Your wedding day hair is the centerpiece of your bridal look. Whether you envision a classic updo, romantic loose waves, a sleek low bun, or a bohemian half-up style, your stylist will recreate the look you perfected during your trial with precision and care.

Day-of bridal hair includes:

  • Pre-styling preparation — Hair is prepped with professional products for hold, texture, and longevity
  • Full styling — Your stylist recreates your trial look, making any minor adjustments based on the day's conditions (humidity, venue temperature)
  • Veil and accessory placement — Secure placement of your veil, headpiece, flowers, or clips
  • Touch-up products — Your stylist will provide or recommend products for mid-day touch-ups if needed
  • Finishing and setting — Professional finishing spray designed for all-day hold through photos, ceremony, dinner, and dancing

Your bridal hair appointment is typically 60-90 minutes. We build buffer time into your day-of schedule to ensure there's never a rush.

Day-of Bridal Makeup

Bridal makeup requires a different approach than everyday makeup. It needs to be buildable for photography, long-wearing through tears and hugs, and beautiful in both natural and artificial light. Our makeup artists use professional, high-performance products — including airbrush and traditional techniques — to create a look that lasts 12+ hours without touch-ups.

Day-of bridal makeup includes:

  • Skin preparation — Cleansing, moisturizing, and priming for a smooth, flawless base
  • Full face application — Foundation, concealer, contour, blush, bronzer, eye makeup, brows, lashes, and lip color
  • Lash application — Strip lashes or individual clusters, depending on your preference and the look established at your trial
  • Setting — Professional setting spray for all-day wear
  • Touch-up kit — A small kit of essentials (lipstick, blotting papers, powder) for any mid-day refreshing

We use products that are camera-friendly and designed for longevity. Your makeup will look beautiful in natural light, flash photography, and video — no flashback, no patchiness, no fading.

Bridal Party Styling

Your bridesmaids, mother of the bride, mother of the groom, flower girls, and other members of your bridal party deserve to look and feel beautiful too. Our bridal party styling services ensure that everyone in your group is camera-ready and coordinated.

Bridal party services include:

  • Hair styling — Updos, half-up styles, or blowouts tailored to each person's hair type and the wedding's aesthetic
  • Makeup application — Full makeup customized to each person's skin tone and features while maintaining a cohesive look across the group
  • Flower girl styling — Age-appropriate, gentle styling for your youngest attendants — braids, curls, half-up styles, and accessory placement

For larger bridal parties, we coordinate multiple stylists to work simultaneously so everyone is ready on time. Your stylist will create a detailed timeline during the planning process — accounting for every person's hair and makeup, built-in buffer time, and photography schedules.

On-Location Services

Not every bride wants to come to the salon on her wedding day. We offer on-location hair and makeup services, bringing our full team and professional setup directly to your venue, hotel, getting-ready suite, or anywhere else you'll be preparing.

On-location services include everything you'd receive in-salon — the same products, the same quality, the same attention to detail — in whatever location works best for your day. This is especially convenient when your venue has a getting-ready suite, when you're staying at a hotel with your bridal party, or when you want to be photographed getting ready in a specific location.

Travel fees apply and vary based on distance from our Plano salon. Most venues within the DFW metroplex are well within our service area.

Flower Girl Styling

Our stylists are experienced with children of all ages and create age-appropriate, comfortable styles that hold up through the ceremony and photos. Options include braids, curls, half-up styles, floral accessory placement, and simple updos. We work at the child's pace and keep the experience fun.

Hair Extensions for Your Wedding Day

Many brides add hair extensions for their wedding to achieve extra volume, length, or both. Extensions can transform a bridal updo by adding fullness, create dramatic waves for a down style, or give your stylist more hair to work with for a complex design.

We recommend clip-in extensions for most brides because they're temporary, damage-free, and can be color-matched precisely to your hair. If you're considering tape-in or hand-tied extensions, we recommend having them installed 2-4 weeks before the wedding so you're comfortable wearing them and your stylist can work with them at your trial.

Discuss extensions with your stylist at your trial. They'll recommend the right type, weight, and length based on your hair and your desired look.

Planning Your Wedding Day Beauty Timeline

Timing is everything on a wedding day. A rushed beauty timeline leads to stress, and stress is the enemy of beautiful photos. Here's a general framework for planning your beauty schedule:

6-12 months before:

  • Book your wedding date with Something Blue by Lee Graves
  • Share your venue, wedding style, and party size so we can plan staffing

3-4 months before:

  • Schedule your bridal trial
  • Begin any skincare routine changes (facials, treatments) so your skin is in peak condition

2-3 months before:

  • Attend your bridal trial
  • Finalize your look and confirm all details
  • Schedule a second trial if anything needs adjustment

1 month before:

  • Confirm your day-of timeline with your stylist
  • Share the final bridal party count and any special requests
  • Install extensions if using tape-in or hand-tied

1 week before:

  • Avoid any new skincare products, facial treatments, or brow services
  • Get a final haircut or trim if needed (not the day before — give it at least a few days to settle)

Day of:

  • Arrive (or welcome the team on-location) at the scheduled time with clean, dry hair
  • Relax, enjoy the process, and trust your stylist — you've already perfected the look at your trial

What to Bring to Your Bridal Trial

Come prepared to make the most of your trial appointment:

  • Inspiration photos — At least 5-10 images of hair and makeup looks you love. Screenshots from Instagram and Pinterest work great. Include photos you don't like too — knowing what you want to avoid is just as helpful.
  • Your veil and headpiece — If you have them, bring them. Your stylist needs to know how they attach and how they interact with the hairstyle.
  • A top or dress with a similar neckline — The neckline of your dress influences the best hairstyle. Strapless, V-neck, off-shoulder, high-neck, and open-back dresses each call for different hair placement.
  • Hair accessories — Clips, combs, pins, flowers, or any decorative elements you want incorporated.
  • Photos of your dress — If you can't wear a similar neckline, photos help your stylist understand the overall look.
  • An open mind — Your stylist may suggest ideas you hadn't considered. Bring a trusted friend or family member for a second opinion, but keep the group small so you can focus.
