3 Tips to Keep Your Hair Color from Fading

Want to keep your hair color looking fresh and vibrant between salon visits? Here are our top tips for preventing color fade.
1. Use Professional Hair Care Products
Always keep your hair in the best shape by using professional hair care products for colored hair. The products you use on your hair need to come directly from a hair salon. You cannot fully trust what is out there online. UV protective products should be included in your hair care regimen as well.
2. Rinse with Cool Water
Rinse your hair with cool water when rinsing out your conditioner. This will help seal the cuticle down and retain your hair color. You can also use vinegar to rinse through your hair at the end of your conditioning. This also helps seal the cuticle. This would be recommended for dark and vibrant hair colors such as red or black.
3. Wash Less Frequently
Wash your hair only 2 to 3 times a week. This will help prolong your hair color. It will fade with each wash. The less you wash, the longer your color will stay bright.
Bonus Tip: Protect Against Heat
Okay, we had to add one more thing. If you use hot tools, make sure you have a heat protectant product on your hair. You can literally see the flat iron fade your hair color if you watch really close.
I hope this helps with your at-home color care. If you have any questions for us, please give us a call at the salon at (972) 378-0091.
