Bridal Makeup in Plano, TX: What It Costs and How to Plan It

Makeup at Lee Graves Salon is $105, which includes lash application, and Glamour Makeup is $135. Wedding-day work through Something Blue by Lee Graves, our bridal division, is quoted per wedding rather than priced off a menu, because the number genuinely depends on how many people are getting ready, whether we come to your venue, and how many artists your morning needs.

For a national reference point, The Knot's 2026 Real Weddings Study puts the average cost of a makeup artist for one to-be-wed at about $150, with hair at roughly the same.

That's the money question answered. The more useful one is what you're actually buying, because bridal makeup is one of the few wedding services where the difference between a good decision and a bad one shows up in every photograph you keep for the rest of your life.

Why Bridal Makeup Is Not Just Your Makeup, Done by Someone Else

Everyday makeup has one job: look good to the people in front of you. Wedding makeup has at least four, and they pull against each other.

It has to read in person, where anything heavy looks obviously painted on. It has to read on camera, where a flat, under-done face disappears entirely. It has to survive a Texas afternoon, hugs, tears, and a dance floor. And it has to work under lighting that changes completely between the getting-ready room, an outdoor ceremony, and a reception lit with colored LEDs.

Our day-of bridal makeup is built around that. It includes:

  • Skin preparation — cleansing, moisturizing and priming, which is what makes the base sit smoothly rather than settling into texture by hour three
  • Full face application — foundation, concealer, contour, blush, bronzer, eye makeup, brows, and lip color
  • Lash application — strip lashes or individual clusters, depending on what you settled on at the trial
  • Setting — a professional setting spray for all-day wear
  • A touch-up kit — lipstick, blotting papers and powder for mid-day refreshing

We use camera-friendly products chosen for longevity, with no flashback and no patchiness, and we work in both airbrush and traditional application. The look is designed to hold 12 or more hours without touch-ups.

What Bridal Makeup Costs in Plano

Two different prices exist here, and conflating them is where most budgets go wrong.

In-salon makeup is on our regular menu: $105 for makeup including lashes, $135 for Glamour Makeup. That's what you pay for an engagement shoot, a rehearsal dinner, a bridal portrait session, or any special occasion that doesn't involve a wedding morning. See the full menu for everything else.

Wedding-day bridal beauty is quoted per wedding. That isn't evasiveness; it's that no two wedding mornings cost the same thing to staff. The variables that move a quote:

  • How many people need makeup. A bride alone is a different morning from a bride, five bridesmaids, and two mothers.
  • Where you're getting ready. On-location at your venue or hotel means travel, setup, and a team that's blocked out for the whole morning. Travel fees vary by distance from our Plano salon.
  • How many artists the timeline needs. A party of eight that has to be camera-ready by 1 p.m. needs more than one artist. We schedule for the timeline, not the other way around.
  • Your trial. A trial is its own appointment, and some brides book a second one.
  • Add-ons in the run-up. Lashes, brows, and extensions are separate services with their own prices.

If you want ballpark ranges to budget against before you inquire, our bridal hair trial timeline guide carries a general North Texas pricing table covering trials, the bride's day-of services, bridesmaids, and mothers of the bride and groom.

The Trial Matters More for Makeup Than for Hair

Hair is forgiving on a wedding morning. A curl can be reset, a pin moved, a part shifted. Makeup is not. A foundation that oxidizes two shades darker by the time photos start, a shimmer that catches flash the wrong way, or a product your skin quietly objects to — none of those can be fixed at 11 a.m. with the photographer already in the room.

So the trial is where the real decisions get made. You'll see the full look in daylight, photograph it on your own phone from several angles, and live in it for a few hours to find out whether it holds. We recommend scheduling it two to three months before the wedding, which leaves room for a second trial if something needs changing.

There's a skin-health reason for that window too. The American Academy of Dermatology's guidance for testing any new product on your skin is to apply it to a quarter-sized test spot twice daily for seven to 10 days and watch for red, itchy, or swollen skin. That's a ten-day commitment, not an afternoon. A trial two months out gives you and your artist time to find a problem and solve it. A trial two weeks out does not, and new skincare the week of the wedding is how brides end up with reactive skin in the photos.

Bring inspiration photos you love and photos you don't, wear a top with a neckline close to your dress, and come with clean skin and no makeup on.

Airbrush or Traditional?

We work in both, and the honest answer is that neither is automatically better.

Airbrush sprays a fine mist of thinned foundation in very thin layers. It builds an even, lightweight finish that tends to photograph beautifully under flash and resists transferring onto a white dress or a groom's jacket.

Traditional application is built by hand with brushes and sponges. It gives the artist more direct control to adjust shade, press pigment into specific areas, and build coverage exactly where it's needed.

Skin texture, how much coverage you want, and the look you settled on at the trial all point to one or the other. Your artist will tell you which they'd choose for your face and why. If someone sells you airbrush as automatically superior without looking at your skin, that's a sales pitch rather than a recommendation.

Bridal Party and Family Makeup

Your bridesmaids, mothers, and flower girls are in the photos too, and a group where one person's makeup is noticeably heavier or lighter than everyone else's reads immediately on camera.

We do full makeup for bridal parties, customized to each person's skin tone and features while keeping the group cohesive, plus gentle, age-appropriate styling for your youngest attendants. For larger parties we bring multiple artists working simultaneously, which is the only way to avoid the classic problem where the first bridesmaid finished three hours ago and has already eaten her lipstick off.

One thing worth settling early, before anyone books: who's paying for whose makeup. Practice varies widely and there's no universal rule — what matters is that your party knows the answer before they're sitting in the chair.

In-Salon or On-Location?

Both work, and the right answer is mostly about logistics and photographs.

Coming to the salon at 6101 Chapel Hill Blvd means a controlled environment, professional lighting, and no travel fee. It suits a smaller party and a later ceremony.

On-location means we bring the full setup to your venue, hotel suite, or wherever you're getting ready, with the same products and the same artists. It suits bigger parties, early ceremonies, and brides who want the getting-ready photos taken somewhere specific. Travel fees vary with distance from Plano, and most DFW venues are well inside our service area.

Something Blue has a dedicated Wedding Coordinator on staff who handles inquiries, trials, and the day-of timeline, which is the part most brides underestimate. Getting eight people camera-ready in a fixed window is a scheduling problem before it's a beauty one.

What to Do in the Months Before

The makeup is the last layer. A few things upstream of it make a visible difference:

  • Brows, two to three weeks out. Shaping needs time to settle and any reaction time to fade. Our eyebrow waxing vs. threading guide covers which method suits which skin, and what to stop using beforehand — this matters a great deal if you use retinol. Brow lamination is $110 and lasts six to eight weeks, which lines up neatly with a wedding date.
  • Lashes, planned deliberately. If you wear lash extensions, time your last fill so the set is full rather than halfway shed — our guide to lash extension fill costs and cadence explains the timing. If you don't, a lash lift and tint at $150 is a low-maintenance alternative that lasts six to eight weeks, and strip lashes or clusters are included in the day-of makeup either way. Full details on our lash and brow services.
  • No new skincare the week of. Per the patch-testing window above, anything new needs seven to 10 days of runway. The week before your wedding is not the time to try a mask someone recommended.
  • Nothing dramatic the day before. Facials, peels, and new treatments the day before a wedding are the most common cause of day-of skin problems we see.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does bridal makeup cost in Plano, TX? In-salon makeup at Lee Graves Salon is $105, which includes lash application, and Glamour Makeup is $135. Wedding-day work through Something Blue is quoted per wedding, because the number depends on party size, whether we come to your venue, how many artists the morning needs, and your trial. For context, The Knot's 2026 Real Weddings Study puts the national average for a bride's wedding-day makeup at about $150.

Do I really need a bridal makeup trial? More than you need one for hair. Hair can be adjusted on the morning; a foundation shade that oxidizes two hours in, or a product your skin reacts to, cannot. The trial is also the only honest way to see how the look photographs. We recommend booking it two to three months before the wedding.

What is the difference between airbrush and traditional makeup? Airbrush applies a fine mist of thinned foundation in thin layers, which gives a very even, lightweight finish that holds up well under flash. Traditional application is built by hand with brushes and sponges and is easier to adjust shade by shade and build in specific areas. We do both, and your artist will recommend one at the trial based on your skin and the look you want rather than selling one as automatically better.

How long does bridal makeup last? Our wedding-day makeup is built to hold for 12 or more hours without touch-ups, using professional, camera-friendly products and a setting spray. You also leave with a small touch-up kit of essentials for mid-day refreshing.

Can you do makeup for my bridesmaids and mothers too? Yes. We do full makeup for bridal parties, customized to each person's skin tone while keeping the group cohesive on camera, plus age-appropriate styling for flower girls. For larger parties we schedule multiple artists so everyone is ready at the same time rather than one person finishing an hour early.

When should I book bridal makeup for a Plano wedding? Six to twelve months out, and earlier for a Saturday in peak season (April through October). Your trial is then scheduled two to three months before the date.
